Symbols of inpendence from Big Brother government sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri

Symbols of independence sketch by Gloria Poole, RN,artist of Missouri

Symbols of independence sketch by Gloria Poole, RN, artist of Missouri, 6 July 2014, mixed media

This sketch created by me Gloria Poole , RN, artist , of Missouri, and signed by me and photographed by me on my portable drawing board, and uploaded by me to this blog of mine, is intended to represent humble ways of being independent of what the book “1984” labeled “Big Brother” all invasive all spying all controlling government.   If you put your faith in THE LIVING LORD JESUS and not whoever is in the White House, and if you get a garden plot and plough it, and if you put up a windmill to generate electricity, and if you buy gold [the goblet] instead of paper certificates from companies whose only goal is to get rich quick, you will prosper over time in an enduring way. The curved lines in the center are the ruts in the dirt road that independent people who are not slaves to vehicles and gas prices, might see on a walkabout in a rural place.

This sketch is only a quick idea that began with my idea of creating another sketch of the symbols of the world. The computer driven age of mankind that we humans live in collectively has tried to reduce everything concept to an icon, and it’s sort of pathetic.  Some concepts cannot be adequately portrayed with a one dimensional icon.  This sketch is mixed media of acrylics and watercolor on 9 x12 paper. I wanted the handles of the plough to look like roughly hewn wood, and the windmill to look as if an amateur put it up. Because I believe the future of the U S is not in the hands of whoever is in the White House, but in the hands of the people themselves to build farms, houses, children, families, and a future for themselves and for the nation. I named this sketch “Symbols of independence” .
