Balloons watercolor sketch by Gloria Poole of Missouri created 24-March-2015. I drew this simply because I saw balloons tied to the ground when I was sitting on my balcony. The air was perfectly still and they seemed to sort of hang there because the strings to them were mere wisps of color attached to them. I thought it was as good an exercise to practice making things look round , three dimensional, as any contrived subject would be, so I tried to paint them. I do not like the effect of too many different colors in any thing–it creates a disharmony that is jarring to the eye. So, I selected watercolors that blend together easily to the eye.
